Gencer
signed a contract for Otello with del Monaco for five performances.
Unfortunately, after having a traffic accident, del Monaco cancelled his
participation. As Gencer had a contract, Teatro Municipal drop Otello and
offered her three performances of La Traviata and two concert perrformances of
Verdi's Requiem. Gencer performed first two Traviatas but then she cancelled
her last Traviata performances as well as Requiem concerts due to her illness.
